How To Use Mosquito Insect Repellent As Part Of A Coordinated Strategy
Mosquito insect repellent needs to be effective, as mosquito bites can be carriers of serious disease. To create a fully effective program of protection, you need to take advantage of the best that technology can offer in more than one given area. A complete strategy needs to be formulated, based on your own individual needs and characteristics. No one solution will suit everyone, but there are general principles which need to be followed if you are to create a truly effective solution. The major considerations are your environment, your clothing, and your skin protection.
Your environment is obviously of paramount importance, but of course no-one would deliberately choose to go into a mosquito infested area without a good reason. The reason is presumably enough to justify the need for protection. What you can do to make the situation less problematic is to use netting wherever possible. Use it while you are sleeping, but also use it whenever you are able to work in a quiet and relaxed environment out of the blazing sun. The more time you can spend under netting, the less need you will have of chemical solutions which have side effects.
Once you have resolved to reduce your exposure to mosquito bites to the absolute minimum, you can begin to work out how to protect yourself while you are exposed. The use of creams, lotions and sprays which come into contact with the skin is necessary, but these products obviously carry the risk of reaction and side effects. To minimize this risk, it makes sense to reduce the amount of skin which is open to the air to the bare minimum, and the best way to do this is with adequate clothing. Get some good Permethrin coated gear, and this will be a great help to you.
Once you have bought your clothing, you can then assess how best to protect the areas of remaining skin. For the vast majority of people, the best solution will be chemical based. Synthetic solutions are stronger and more powerful than natural ones. If, however, you are one of the people who suffers an allergic reaction to chemicals such as DEET, you will need to find the best natural solution. The only natural product which has proven to be totally effective against mosquito bites is lemon eucalyptus, so this should form the base of your natural mosquito insect repellent.
For the best chemical mosquito insect repellent, you need look no further than DEET. DEET is highly effective for longer times than any other compound yet devised, but it does have some side effects. These can include disturbed sleep, drowsiness and a lack of mental clarity. For this reason, it is best to use as little of the compound as you can, while still achieving the highest degree of effectiveness. This can be achieved by using a plastic polymer based product which releases the DEET as it is needed. This will be the safest and most effective mosquito insect repellent.
